Having fun with Fonts

Once again, Happy New Year everyone! I’m going to start the year with fonts and how they can change the meaning of a word or phrase. This isn’t some hard-nosed lesson in typography, just a little bit of fun playing with fonts.

I’ve taken the phrase “The Nanny” and found a few different fonts to play with and here are the results I came up with. I should mention that you don’t need some fancy computer or fancy programs to do this, just the fonts that came with your computer or you can go online and find loads of free fonts and as long as you’re only using them for personal use you don’t have to worry about copyright. I made a list of fonts  and marked the first four as to what I think each font could represent. Then I took four of them and added a little more design to them in Photoshop. Now if you don’t have Photoshop, most computers come with some type of photo manipulation program (quite often something comes with the printer) and if you have clip art that’s all you really need. Well that and a good imagination. In the meantime print out my list and use your imagination as to what  mood you think each font could represent and enjoy my interpretations of “The Nanny”.
