Author and Artist Robin Hindle
Athur of Famlaer

Robin is an artist and a retired graphic designer of twenty-five years in Victoria, BC, now living in Nova Scotia, Canada. Art has always been foremost in her life, whether through photography, pottery, drawing, or painting. This is why she chose to make her first book an illustrated book. Robin has always loved drawing and utilizing Photoshop, where all the illustrations are coloured after being hand-drawn and shaded.

Famlaer sat in Robin’s imagination for many years, until she finally sat down to draw it and write it. It all started with the purchase of a book illustrated and written by Brian Froud and Alan Lee, a prolific author of all things faery and other fantasy creatures.  From then on, Robin started imagining her own faery world.

When Robin decided to draw characters and scenes, the story had not yet shown itself to her. It wasn’t until most of the drawings were done that the story finally showed itself, and she wrote the first draft of the first book, Famlaer – The Real Faeryland, which read more like a descriptive work than a story, exploring Famlaer and its inhabitants. It provides a solid foundation for the following books: Famlaer 2 – A New Beginning in an Old Land and Famlaer 3 – A Different World, which are engaging fantasy/adventure stories for all ages.

All books have been the ultimate labour of love. The writing bug has caught on now, so keep a lookout for the next adventure in the realm of Famlaer.
